New Exam Board

We are hoping to become a private examination centre for Trinity Guildhall from 2012 this will become our new preferred examination board for TheatreWorks drama, speech, communication and performance exams Individual Music Lessons remain unchanged and our preferred board for Music Examinations is still ABRSM as it has been for over 15years.

After over five years of LAMDA exams with a 99% pass rate (over 80% achieving merit or higher) of all exams taken over the last 5years we have decided to change to an examination board that in our opinion offers a greater range of opportunities for our post Grade 8 students and provides a wider range of musical theatre based exams. There will be a phasing out period to allow students to continue their LAMDA medals our LAMDA private examination centre details are still unchanged for UCAS entrant information.

April 2012 New Term Open Day, will take place on Saturday 14th April at Oulton TheatreWorks: 9am - 12noon (Please note the first day of term will be held at Blackburn Hall in Rothwell) and Boston Spa TheatreWorks: 2pm - 5pm to book your place at our open day Tel: 0113 2822186 or go to the Contact Us page. Our Summer 2012 Workshops have now been released, for those of you thinking about summer already! The performance based workshop for Boston Spa is Mamma Mia! on Monday 6th to Friday 10th August 2012 inclusive starting at 10am until 4pm with a 6pm Friday Evening Performance.

Sweet Charity Candy Ball 2011

Big Red Curtain Students performed at the Sweet Charity Candy Ball which took place at York Racecourse's Ebor Suite on Saturday 19th March the three musical acts performed throughout the evening along with Faces of Disco from Britains Got Talent.

Sweet Charity is the charity for the UK confectionery industry. We care about individuals and their families who contribute to our industry and we are determined to support them in a friendly, professional and practical way when they need help. We help by providing practical, emotional and sometimes financial support to past and present employees from the confectionery industry, and we have been doing so since 1918.

The New Home for Music, Drama and Dance Tuition in Wakefield! .

TheatreWorks Performing Arts School is coming to Horbury providing advanced tuition of music, drama and dance to 6-18yr olds, the New Stage School for Wakefield has confirmed it's new location as Horbury School A Specialist Language College and as it is ran by the same great teachers that run TheatreWorks in Leeds and Wetherby.

Website Relaunched

Our re-designed website has been launched today (yes we know it looks exactly the same as the old one). The new improved site now has the ability to be updated easily allowing us to communicate with students and parents easily.

The new website also has the capability to allow students with passwords to access course information, casting profiles, backing tracks, scripts monologues and other information.

New Term Entry Auditions TheatreWorks

We are now accepting entries for our new Term at Theatreworks commencing September 5th 2009 at Oulton and Boston Spa Theatre Schools. Entry to the main schools (6-18 yrs) is by a small audition. Auditions are taking place between 24th August - beginning of term.

Early Years (3-6yrs) - commences at Boston Spa on Friday 4th September 3.45pm - 5pm. Oulton Saturday 5th September 9.00am - 10.15am. There is NO audition for early years.

Big Red Curtain Performing Arts Company presents it's new Wakefield TheatreWorks Stage School. The new Wakefield stage school will be holding it's first Wakefield Open Day at Horbury High School on Wednesday 30th November 2011 from 6pm - 7pm in the main hall. We are inviting potential new students aged 6-18yrs to come and see what we're all about and join in with singing, acting, dancing and performing for a free trial.
